Aberdeen, 11th Apl. `The NORTHUMBERLAND, Sytton, of South Shields, bound to St. John's, Newfoundland, was driven on shore at Sandwick [Sandwood] Bay, near Cape Wrath, 16th ult.: crew saved.'
Source: The Marine List, LL, No. 10,008, London, Monday April 13 1846.
NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 8088).

Sandwick Bay is not noted as such near Cape Wrath on the 1996 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map. The entry presumably describes a stranding in Sandwood Bay.
The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), possibly suggesting her successful recovery.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 16 November 2005.
