Full Description

NMRS Report: (18/11/2005)
NN59SE 38 5859 9268

The remains of a drystone built structure was recorded here during a detailed desktop and walkover survey of Strathmashie Forest ahead of a proposed heritage trail. Enough archaeological features were found to make the trail worthwhile. The structure consists of a circular 'bowl' at the western end and a rectangular extension off the 'bowl' to the E. The bowl is around 2.5m in diameter internally with the drystone walls surviving to 0.7m in width and 0.6m in height, internally. The feature is most likely a corn-drying kiln.
