Full Description

NMRS Report: (21/11/2005)
NN58NE 16 5797 8898 (centred)

The remains of two buildings were recorded here during a detailed archaeological survey of Strathmashie Community Forest near Laggan, Highland. The survey was carried out to assess the evidence for past human use and to ascertain whether there was enough archaeology to develop a heritage trail in the forest. The first building is 11.5m x 4m and was built in drystone. Just to the N is a sunken hollow, 3.5m in diameter, possibly the remains of a kiln. Around 70m to the NE is another building, sitting on a small terrace. It measures 9.2m x 4.7m and there is a small annex, 5m x 4m.
