Thurso, 10th Sept. A large quantity of railway sleepers, and pieces of wreck have been driven ashore round the coast, from Armadale to Huna, part of a ship's mast at Clarendon, a portion of a Norwegian skiff at Crosskirk, and at Isauld two boards, one marked C. Sameing, and the other Fredens Ha---: another piece marked Tebe has been picked up at Dounreay.

NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 8211).

(No classification specified: cargo cited as timber, and date as 6 September 1847). Unknown: cargo and wreckage washed ashore between Sandside and Dunnet [Head].
(Location of loss cited as N58 35.0 W3 50.0).
I G Whittaker 1998.

The location and quasi-administrative area assigned to this record are essentially tentative, being derived from the recorded location of discovery of the 'portion of a Norwegian skiff'. It remains uncertain whether any vessel was, in reality, lost, while any loss may have occurred offshore, possibly beyond Scottish waters.
Whittaker appears to consider all the wreckage washed ashore as being derived from one casualty, but this remains unverified.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 23 November 2005.

This discovery of wreckage may be equated with the loss that is cited under NC96NE 8011.
The date assigned is presumably that of the reported discovery of wreckage.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 27 April 2007.
