Full Description

NMRS Report: (28/11/2005)
NN59SE 67 5926 9097

The remains of a rotting wooden structure were recorded during a detailed archaeological survey of Strathmashie Community Forest near Laggan, Highland. The wood has numerous iron fixings and it appears the remains were once a cart or bogey and used by the Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit, who worked in the forest during World War 2. The survey was carried out to assess the evidence for past human use and to ascertain whether there was enough archaeology to develop a heritage trail in the forest.
