Full Description

NMRS Report: (28/11/2005)

The remains of a bogey wagon were recorded during a detailed archaeological survey of Strathmashie Community Forest near Laggan, Highland. The wagon belonged to the Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit, who worked in this area during World War 2. The wagon is upstanding and has four wheels and tyres. Various wooden and iron parts form the main frame of the wagon and its overall length could be adjusted, to allow the length of timber carried to be changed. The survey was carried out to assess the evidence for past human use and to ascertain whether there was enough archaeology to develop a heritage trail in the forest.
