Full Description

NMRS Report: (07/02/2006)
NM47NW 42 41478 79396

This farmstead, which comprises two subrectangular buildings and a scooped yard, is situated in heather moorland at the entrance to a narrow gully. The buildings are arranged in an L-shape on plan, the scooped yard occupying the angle in its open side. The larger building, which lies on the NW side of the yard, measures 7.6m from NE to SW by 3.8m transversely within a faced rubble wall 0.9m in thickness and 0.6m in height; it has an entrance on the NW. The other, lying on the SW side of the yard, is set end-on into the slope on the SE and measures 4.7m by 3m within a faced rubble wall 0.7m in thickness and up to 0.7m in height; its entrance is in the NW end. The hollowed character of the yard suggests that it probably accommodated a midden.
