This bridge carries a public footpath over the railway line immediately W of Alness Station (NH66NE 27). It does not form part of the station structure.
The location assigned to this record defines the midpoint of the span. The available map evidence indicates that it extends from NH c. 65952 69444 to NH c. 65936 69369 (including the curved approaches at each end).
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 21 April 2006.

The footbridge, which is the main pedestrian access route for Alness Academy, was originally intended to be a covered walkway extending directly to the first floor level of the Academy. Although this walkway was never realised, and the current structure was built instead, the Reception of the Academy remained at first floor level, despite the building being entered at ground floor level only.
Information from Alness Academy Rector, Kenneth MacIver, 15 February 2007 (ITMP)
