NH78SE 8004 c. 78 82
N57 49 W4 3
NLO: Tain [name: NH 778 822]
Dornoch Firth [name centred NH 87 89].
Portmahomack, 27th May. The BELMONT, of Glasgow, Simson, bound to Bonar Bridge to load box-wood, left this harbour yesterday, and ran on Tain bar, where she lies on the sand with the sea breaking over her, and is expected to receive damage.

NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 9390).
The location assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary. Tain Bar cannot be identified from the available map evidence, but the River Tain enters the Dornoch Firth at NH 785 824.
The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably suggesting her successful recovery.
