NLO: Duncansby Head [name: ND 405 733]
Pentland Firth [name centred ND 35 81].

Huna, 14th Dec. The nameboard of a vessel, with the letters `W L S M A' cut in and gilded, was picked up on the south side of Duncansby Head, 10th Dec. The board was broken, and a portion of it was found near the same place, with the same letters on it.
Source: The Marine List, LL, No. 14,573, London, Tuesday December 18 1860.
NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 9984).

The map sheet and quasi-administrative area assigned to this record are essentially arbitrary, being derived from the reported location of discovery of wreckage. The vessel may have foundered offshore, possibly beyond Scottish waters.
The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998); her identity remains unclear.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 8 December 2006.
