Dornoch [name: NH 798 895]
Dornoch Firth [name centred NH 87 89].

Lossiemouth, 18th Oct. The BRENDA, of Kirkwall, in ballast, was stranded near Portmahomack during the gale of 16th Oct., and is likely to become a total wreck: crew saved.
Source: LL, No. 17,320, London, Tuesday, October 19 1869.
NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 11694).

The map sheet and location of loss assigned to this record remain unverified. The vessel may have stranded on the North Sea coast of Easter Ross, rather than within the Dornoch Firth.
The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), possibly suggesting her successful recovery.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 18 December 2006.
