Scrabster, 2nd Dec. The GEM (smack), of Peel, I.M., Gill, went ashore yesterday half mile east of Thurso bar: crew saved. The vessel will be a wreck. ----r sails, spars, and other material were got on shore last night.

Thurso, 25th Dec. The hull and materials of the GEM (smack), of Peel, I.M., Gill, which went ashore half a mile E of this bar, 1st Dec., have been sold.

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. The River Thurso (Thurso River) enters the SE corner of Thurso Bay through a well-defined mouth.
