[Thurso], 22nd Dec. The SUNDERLAND (schnr.), from Arundel (?Arendal) to Whitehaven, was totally wrecked 19th Dec.: cargo partly saved.

Thurso, 24th Dec. The SUNDERLAND, Gjoruldsen, of and from Arendal, for Whitehaven, which was wrecked here on the 19th Dec., had been in contact on the previous day, in Scrabster Roads, with the ELFIN, Clacher, when two of the SUNDERLAND's crew got on board the latter vessel, and were unable to return.

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative: that cited by Whittaker remains unverified, but is accepted. The Crook is not noted as such on the 1999 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map.
