Full Description

NMRS Report: (21/03/2007 12:44:09)
NH92NE 56 NH 98418 25982

A burnt mound is situated adjacent to what is evidently a spring (now tapped on a water supply) at the southern extremity of Balnuick Wood. The mound is oval, measuring about 8m from NW to SE by 5m transversely and 0.7m in height, is crossed by the SW fence of the enclosure around the water supply. One of several Scots Pines growing upon the mound has fallen across the fence, disrupting the surface of the mound and revealing a dense mass of burnt and fire-cracked stones.
Visited by RCAHMS (SH, TIP, GB) 13 October 2006.
