Full Description

NMRS Report: (23/02/2007 11:20:36)
NJ02SW 79 NJ 04510 21479

Badenin is no longer a working farmsteading and the farmhouse and outbuildings, which were being renovated on the date of visit, were not recorded in detail. The farmhouse sits immediately SE of an L-plan range, which forms the SW and NW sides of a small yard; a building that stood on the NE side of the yard and is depicted on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1902, sheet xlviA) is no longer visible.
Situated some 40m SE of the farmhouse are the grass-grown footings of a rectangular building (NJ 04557 21446) measuring 17.8m from NNE to SSW by 5.5m transversely over walls up to 0.5m in height. An outshot extends from the centre of its WNW side. This building lies close to the position of a building that is depicted roofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1874, sheet xlviA). However, that building, which was orientated NW and SE, appears to have been removed before the end of the 19th century and it is not shown on the 2nd edition of the map.
Visited by RCAHMS (LMc, AGCH) 6 September 2006.
