Full Description

NMRS Report: (19/02/2007 11:40:54)
NG64SW 8001 unlocated

NLO: Inner Sound [name centred NG 64 40].

Corry by Broadford, 4th June. The GEORGE (schooner), of Banff, from Newcastle to Dublin, got on a rock in the Sound of Skye yesterday, and is so much damaged that it is doubtful if she can proceed on her voyage.
Source: LL, No. 15,338, London, Monday, June 8 1863.
NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 10400).

The map sheet assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary. The location of the Sound of Skye cannot be determined from the available map evidence, but it is tentatively equated with the Inner Sound, between Skye , Raasay and Wester Ross.
The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably suggesting her successful recovery.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 19 February 2007.
