Full Description

NMRS Report: (14/05/2007 12:20:22)
ND36SE 8040 c. 354 612
N58 32.1 W3 6.6

NLO: Keiss [name: ND 347 612]
Keiss Castle [name: ND 356 617]
Sinclair's Bay [name centred ND 37 56].

Location formerly entered as ND c. 355 617 [N58 32.3 W3 6.5].

(No classification or cargo specified: date cited as 9 February 1861). Empress Eugenie: wreckage on shore near [the] Castle at Keiss.
(Location of loss cited as N58 32.33 W3 6.0).
I G Whittaker 1998.

A location at ND c. 354 612 may be suggested for this loss. Keiss Castle (ND36SE 30.00) is at ND 3556 6175.
It remains unclear whether the vessel stranded at the location cited, or foundered offshore, possibly beyond Scottish waters. The date cited is presumably that of report, rather than loss.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 14 May 2007.
