NG44SE 119 4715 4352
NG 4715 4352 At the foot of the north-east facing cliff, close to the south-west corner of a prominent dyked enclosure, are the robbed remains of two 8.80 metre diameter hut circles. Both huts have been partly robbed for materials needed to construct the nearby enclosure but sufficient remains to allow measurement and certain identification. Both huts have been constructed on artificial platforms which have been cut into the hill slope. The surviving walls consist of large boulders in a turf bank some 2.00 metres thick. The entrances do no survive.
To the south and west are traces of a contemporary boundary system consisting of linear settings of large boulders. These boulder boundaries disappear beneath the peat overburden.
Martin Wildgoose, December 1998.
