Full Description

This roofless building is set into the corner of the head-dyke wall and is 6.1m x 3.3m with a 0.8m wide doorway in the south side. Local knowledge has this building used as a shieling used while watching over the livestock which at night were coralled into this end of the crofts, trapped between the head dyke and the river gorge which form two sides of a retaining triangle. This site was identified and notified to us by Paul Swan, a local researcher. <1><2>
