Full Description

The site of Camusfearna, which was destroyed by fire in 1968. The cottage was owned by Gavin Maxwell, the author of "Ring of Bright Water". Maxwell and his otter Teka escaped but sadly the fire killed the otter Edal. A stone monument to Maxwell is positioned in the location of his old writing desk. There is also a monument to Edal. <1><2>

This site was drawn to our attention by a website visitor, Myriam de Courten, who had visited the place about 15 years ago whilst on holiday in the area. <3>
