Building record MHG51536 - Pipers Cottage, Glentruim

A single storey cottage, built of harl-pointed rubble with a slate roof and twin end stacks. It appears that a fireplace has been inserted at a later date in the room to the right of the front door, with a substantial chimney stack inserted in the southern side of the roof. Photographs of the building were submitted to the HER to comply with a condition on planning consent for alterations and an extension. The photographic record consists largely of 360 degree interactive images. Information submitted with the photographic record states that the cottage was occupied by Sandy Macpherson, the Glentruim piper, who is said to have taught the pipes to John Brown, the piper to Queen Victoria. <1>
