Full Description

NM47NW 66 centred 42230 779511
Amongst the buildings of the modern settlement of Port Mor, there are traces of at least four earlier buildings. Three have been reduced to subrectangular platforms, which measure up to 8.1m in length and 4.5m in breadth. Traces of the fourth can be seen extending away from the WSW end of the Isle of Muck Tea-shop. The Tea-shop building, recently renovated, may incorporate elements of a building shown roofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire, Island of Muck, 1880 sheet lxxii). Two of the buildings reduced to platforms are also shown roofed on this map (Muck02 99, 315), but the third is not shown (Muck02 91).
To the S a short length of field-bank extends over a distance of about 18m from NNW to SSE , and there is also a grass-grown earthen mound measuring about 5m in diameter (NM 42259 79447).
