Full Description

NG23NE 8005 unlocated
NLO: Loch Bracadale [name centred NG 285 380]
Skye [name centred NG 45 35].
Possibly on map sheets NG24SE, NG33SW, NG33NW or NG34SW.
(Classified as galleon: date of loss cited as 1588). Unknown: this vessel was lost in Loch Bracadale, Skye.
(Location of loss cited as N57 21.0 W6 32.0).
I G Whittaker 1998.
The map sheet assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary, being derived from the unverified location of loss that is cited by Whittaker. It remains uncertain whether this vessel foundered or stranded; the latter appears the more probable.
The significance of this record remains unclear. In the absence of collateral evidence, it appears unlikely that this was a vessel of Spanish Armada origin.
