The Misses Macdonald of Achnacloich (Misses Macdonald, Achnacloich, Tarskavaig), state that about 1850 their grandfather uncovered an urn containing burnt bones upon their croft, which lies adjacent and to the E of the road to Tarskavaig, immediately N of the bridge of the Gillean Burn. He replaced the urn in the ground when he realised it was a burial.
About 20 years ago whilst ploughing, their brother uncovered in this same field a massive stone beneath which was a large hollow since filled with small stones to prevent the cattle breaking a leg. The stone is still partly uncovered, and the hollow beneath can be seen.
The site is 43.0m SW of the Macdonald's house, the edge of a terrace overlooking the burn, at NG 5881 0901.
The village name Achnacloich, which means Field of Stones, may possibly have referred to this place.
