(Location of loss cited as N58 3.50 W5 26.00).
I G Whittaker 1998.
The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. The location of Loch Olderney cannot be ascertained from the available map evidence, but the suggestion by Whittaker that it be equated with Loch Alltain Duibh [Loch an Alltain Duibh] is accepted. This loch is, in reality, an indentation behind Isle Ristol, on the NE side of the broad entrance to Loch Broom.
'Tanera Island' is presumably to be equated with either Tanera Beag or Tanera Mor, the two largest islands in the Summer Isles group. These lie within the entrance to the loch, about 3km to the S.
