(Classified as Vickers Wellington IC: date of loss cited as 27 December 1940). N2810: this aircraft suffered engine failure, ditched and sank in Fort William Bay. Registration: British.
9 tons [unspecified]. FPP.
(Location of loss cited as N56 50.0 W5 7.0).
I G Whittaker 1998.
The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative, being derived from the unverified location that is cited by Whittaker. Fort William Bay is not noted as such on the 1998 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map. The name presumably applies to the area of water and sands to the W of Fort William, at the junction of Loch Linnhe (to the SW) and Loch Eil (to the W).
