Full Description
A sub-oval shaped enclosure was noted on the 1968 Ordnance Survey map during a desk-based assessment in December 2008. On aerial photographs it can be seen that the interior of the enclosure has traces of rig and furrow in a NS-EW direction. <1>
During a watching brief in June/July 2009 it was noted that this stone and turf bank has a maximum width of 1.50m and stands to a maximum height of 1.0m. It is a semi-oval bank enclosing an area of rig and furrow. The rigs are in good condition and clearly visible, following two orientations NW-SE and E-W. The longest rigs are on average 4.0m apart from crest to crest and the short rigs are 7.0m apart. The rig and furrow was also noted on the 1946 aerial photographs. <2>
