Full Description

NO56SW 12 5074 6397.

NG 5074 6397. A cairn, 5.3m in diameter, now overgrown with bracken, has had a continuous well-built kerb of rectangular slabs all round, now destroyed in a few places. The kerb stones are about 0.3 to 0.35m wide and stand 0.3m above the turf, but a hole that had been dug beside one kerb stone showed them to be 0.85m or more deep and to have beach pebbles within the fill. The cairn is filled with stones to the height of the kerb and a central depression in the stones presumably signifies an old disturbance.
Information contained in letter from Dr J Close-Brooks (NMAS) to OS 1 August 1977.
