Full Description
A number of small boat ports appear to be associated with stone piles which may represent the bases of stocks for crops grown along the narrow strip of former arable land above the shore. These stones piles are generally just above the high tide line and adjacent to the path. There are also small enclosures up to 6m across and one "shelter" attached to a rock face at NM 85315167 open to the west but with about 3m of standing walling. Possible footings of a small rectangular structure were also noted on a level platform set slightly back from the shore but no features were noted to the south where the land begins to rise.
It was felt that these features all lie to the north of the proposed route of the overhead power line and should be unaffected but care should be taken to avoid damage to any visible features. If access to the route of the power lines during construction is along the shore then no stones should be removed from visible piles and enclosures to provide packing material for poles.<1>
