Full Description

A stone spindle-whorl from Braeside, Glenelg, was presented by D. Maclure of Glenelg to the NMAS 1957-8
PSAS 1960.

This spindle whorl was found by Mr.Maclure (Mr D Maclure, Braeside, Glenelg) close by the burn at NG 8717 1926 whilst lifting stones. He found a further 24 in roughly the same place under similar circumstances this year and has retained eight of them. They are of soapstone, measuring 1 1/2" in diameter and 1/2" thick. There is no trace of any associated structures in the area.
