Full Description
Potsherds were recovered in this area during phase 1 walkover survey.
In base of sandblow, 1 m below present ground level, is a right-angled section of walling. It comprises an intermittent line of 5 very large subangularbasal quartzite boulders, 10 m long NE/SW, with another length of walling 3 m long SE/NW. A quantity of slag was recovered 12 m NE of this feature, and a sherd of Medieval pottery was found adjacent to walling. Traces of associated ground surface underlying the stones at N end.
In NE/SW-aligned sandblow that slopes gently to the SW toward the Kyle of Durness.
Possible Medieval structure and/or metal-working site.
