Full Description

a) Low sub rectangular cairn 6.6 m x 3.8 m NW/SE. Tops of stone visible. Mostly flat angular blocks of quartzite and limestone. No bank material evident around or under stones.

b) 28 m NE of (a) is a low circular cairn, 1.5 m in diameter.

c) 7 m SW of (b) (i.e. between (a) + (b)) is a low cairn, 3 m in diameter.

d) at NC 3789 6753 on NW-facing side of low, craggy rise overlooking (a), (b) and (c) are stone footings defining a circular structure, 3.6 m in diameter. Bedrock outcrops along NE and centre. Wall is slight but well defined with boulders 0.3 - 0.5 m across. Interior of structure forms platform. Arcing length of denuded wall extends from structure on N for 5 m, then turns NNE. Other lengths of denuded wall 6 m to NE of this may have formed enclosure.
On limestone outcrop or terrace W of plantation, overlooking central plain..
Cairn (a) could possibly be burial as cairns 71 are nearby and on similar outcrop. Alternatively, all or some of the cairns could represent clearance. Sturcture (d) may be a shieling.
Recommendations: Further monitoring of area for associated features. <1><2>
