Full Description

NM 48242 90971
There are at least two shieling-huts on a broad terrace approximately 200m from the shore at Talm, on the N coast of Eigg. The larger hut is oval in plan and measures 4.4m in length by 2.9m in breadth within stone walls 0.9m thick and up to 0.5m high. A square pen has been inserted into the W end of the hut. The second hut stands on top of a mound about 30m to the E of the first, and appears to have had two compartments. The mound, which possibly represents the remains of an earlier hut, measures 9m in length by 7.5m in breadth.
