Full Description

A website user reported this well which was not recorded on the HER. It is depicted on the 1st edition and later Ordnance Survey maps as a fountainhead. An article in the Inverness Courier claimed that the well got its name because "the ghost of a young man haunts the stone dias around it. The young man was the victim of a murder committed there many years ago". An alternative explanation is that it is called the Devil's Well because it never has any water in it. <1><2>
