Full Description
Large hut circle set on the highest point of a broad, heather-covered knoll, 20m to the SW of the hut circle MHG53927. Its walls, with occasional stone visible, are up to 0.5m high and spread up to 2.5m wide and there is a possible 1m wide entrance marked by stone edges to 170 degrees. Its NE arc is missing, so there is a possibility that it could just be a sinuous stone and turf dyke.
This possible hut circle is possibly part of a Bronze Age/Iron Age settlement at Sciberscross. The features of an associated field system have also been recorded across this area. <1>
In <1>, this site is noted as appearing on modern mapping, but the NGR given, even allowing for GPS derivation, does not correspond with any mapped features. The mapped extent on the HER resembles a buffered area around the GPS-derived NGR given. <2>
