Full Description

A French drain was recorded during a watching brief at 194 Migdale.

No dating evidence was recovered from the sample excavated, and French drains have been in use for many years, so it is difficult to date its origin. However, since it lies just within the enclosure shown on the 1874 map, and is oriented approximately parallel to the southern boundary of, it may well be contemporary with that, and thus form part of the mid-19th century land improvements in this area. <1>
