Full Description

Located on a narrow terrace of improved ground and to the south of a low sandstone rock outcrop, are the remains of 2 degraded stone-built shielings. Overlooking the Allt a' Chinn Uachdaraich at a height of 92 metres OD, the shielings comprise 1 single-cell structure measuring 3.0 metres long by 2.0 metres wide over walls of indeterminate thickness. There is no entrance visible into the structure. The second shieling is sub-rectangular in plan, measuring 5.5 metres long by 3.5 metres wide over walls 0.8 metres thick. The 0.6 metre entrance is located in the south end of the structure, and a 1.0 metre diameter-twinning pen has been constructed at a later date in the northwest sector. A boulder-built pen measuring 5.0 metres long by 3.5 metres wide is attached to the south-west wall of the shieling. <1>
