Full Description

A resident of Grantown-on-Spey wrote to the HER in February 2011 enclosing a gun flint that had been found in his next door neighbour's garden. <1> The item is a gun flint from a flintlock rifle, most likely of 18th/19th-century date (pers comm Catharine Niven, Inverness Museum, from description given over the phone). The item has been photographed and returned to the correspondent. <2><3>

The flint was found in the garden of Alltbeag. The item is to be donated to the Grantown-on-Spey Heritage Centre. <4>
