Full Description
Situated above River Black Water at 73m OD on a wide river terrace, there is what appears to be a grouping of several low clearance cairns overlying alignments of upright stones; recent clearance material overlies the northwest end of the feature; possible remains of ring cairn; situated 7m west of Site 23 just above the river.
The site first appears as possible prehistoric field clearance cairns, but closer examination revealed large upright stones, forming alignments which were mostly hidden by the stone, some of which had fallen over. As in Site 23, below, there are the faint remains of shallow, narrow ditch to the west side of the feature. Based on the shape of the cairn remains and upright stone alignments, one possibility is that this site is the remains of a much degraded small ring cairn. <1><2>
