Full Description
Scottish Water contacted the Highland HER on the advice of an engineer with Ross-shire Engineering who noted "the remains of a narrow gauge trackway on most if not all of the crest of the main dam, consisting of twin steel rails and steel sleepers. Presumably this was used for transporting material for the original construction of the dam, and a trackway would probably be standard equipment for the railway company building it." <1>
Digitised plans and reports relating to the Loch Lundie reservoir are available as part of the Highland Railway Society collections on Am Baile. <2>
On modern Ordnance Survey mapping and vertical aerial photography, the possible line of this railway track would appear to be respected by modern boundaries. <3><4>
