Full Description

The Glenquoich Factor's notebooks describe two attempts to build an icehouse at the Lodge in the 1880s (see attached report with notes). They provide a good description of the problems when building icehouses, and the use of sawdust for insulation.
It is unknown how long the icehouse survived. The lodge was demolished in 1955, and the remains are now submerged in Loch Quoich. The grid reference is based on 1st edition map for the Lodge. <1>
