Full Description

A shieling hut attached to a boundary dyke was recorded during a walkover survey by West Coast Archaeological Services in 2012 at Amer, Glen Bracadale, Skye, prior to a proposed woodland creation scheme. It was located on a north-facing slope under grass, rushes and bracken and was a turf/ stone-built sub-rectangular construction measuring 3.8m NE-SW by 3m over walls 0.6m wide and up to 0.5m high. It had a rounded closed end to the north-east and had an opening at the south-west end 0.8m wide. <1>
