Full Description

A shieling hut was recorded during a walkover survey by West Coast Archaeological Services in 2012 at Glen Bracadale, Bracadale, Skye, prior to a proposed woodland creation scheme. It was constructed of stone and covered in bracken and grass and measured 7m north-south by 3m over walls spread to 1m and up to 1.2m high. There was no visible entrance and the structure was robbed out at the south end. <1>

It should be noted, however, that on the 1999-2001 APs of the area (which admittedly are not of the highest resolution) this stucture appears to be an open ended rectangular building. IS-L 15/8/2012.
