Full Description
A shieling hut was recorded during a walkover survey by West Coast Archaeological Services in 2012 at Allt Beithe, Bracadale, Skye, prior to a proposed woodland creation scheme. It was a stone-built structure measuring 8m NW-SE by 5m over walls spread 0.8m and up to 1m high. It had a 1m-wide entrance in the east wall. A later twinning pen had been constructed in the north-west corner (see MHG55658). There was evidence of other shieling cells built around the main structure but these were very degraded and mostly indiscernible. <1>
