Full Description
A double cell shieling hut was recorded during a walkover survey by West Coast Archaeological Services in 2012 at Creagan Breaca, Bracadale, Skye, prior to a proposed woodland creation scheme. The structure was covered in grass and heather and constructed from stone or turf. Its dimensions were: south-east cell 4m diameter, north-west cell 2.5m NE-SW by 1.5m over walls spread 1m wide and up to 0.3m high. The 0.6m-wide entrance was in the south-east wall. It overlay a possible earlier turf shieling 6m diameter. <1>
