Full Description

A post-medieval house was recorded during a walkover survey by West Coast Archaeological Services in 2012 at Glen Bracadale, Bracadale, Skye, prior to a proposed woodland creation scheme. Part of the Glen Bracadale township.

The grass- and bracken-covered turf / stone T-shaped house measured 15m N-S by 8m over walls spread to 3m and up 0.8m high. An annex attached to the ESE side of the house measured 6m E-W by 5m with a 1m-wide entrance at the east end. The site predated an enclosure, Site 12 (see MHG55718). The possible remains of a turf / stone-built kale-yard ran off the north-west corner of the house. <1>
