Full Description
A military building was noted by ARCH's Evanton Wartime Remains project in 2013. The building was occupied by Highland Roller Doors company by 2013 and had sandbags within it. During wartime, it was used for firing practice. On the 1943/44 plan (National Archives ADM 1-13568) it was recorded as Bldg No 126/7, “Test Butt for Cannon”. The plane in the hangar was tilted up to fire. The 1946 aerial photograph showed what appears to be a hanger directly in front (to the south) of this building, but it did not appear in the 1944 aerial photograph. No traces remained of the hangar. After the war children played in the sand. Contributors: Bill Shirran, Alpin MacDonald, Phil Glover, Mairi Crow. <1>
