Full Description

Two wartime fire hydrants were noted by ARCH's Evanton Wartime Remains project in 2013. Located at NH 61970 67043 and NH 62054 66904, they both have inscriptions.
The one to the south read on a vertical plate:

2 FT
F.D. BIRD.
HYDRAULIC
ENGINEER
PALMER STREET
WESTMINSTER

The one to the north had similar detail, but formatted in a different manner on a horizontal plate.
The hydrant at NH 62052 66890 had the open well with a pipe within it. A plan from c. 1942 showed all fire points and apparatus in the A camp (NA AIR 29/594). <1>
