Full Description

Two post medieval shieling mounds (site 1 and 2) were surveyed by West Coast Archaeological Services in March 2013 during a walkover survey in advance of a proposed woodland creation scheme. They were found in survey area 1. Both were classified as an amorphous-shaped, heather and grass covered mound measuring either 6m or 5m by 4.5m and standing up to 0.5m or 0.8m in height, aligning either northeast-southwest or north-south. Both mounds were in a very degraded condition at the time of surveying. <1>
