Building record MHG56483 - Torr-an-Albannaich, Tarbert Bay, Loch Nevis

Torr-an-Albannaich, owned by Sir Cameron Mackintosh was built in 2004 by Nigel Johnston.

"This rugged pile on the shores of Loch Nevis which looks as if it has evolved piecemeal over the years. It was built to replace a simple croft house that burnt down in 2000, the shell of which it incorporates. Asymmetrical wings flank a central drum tower - a lower, crowstepped block to the right; a three-storey wing with a curved gable reminiscent of Arts & Crafts buildings as Roshven to the left. The dining area, projecting from the kitchen between splayed buttresses at the base of the tower, was inspired by a Croatian Monastery." <1>
